Trying to Present Yourself at CHA

I'm not even there yet and I'm already exhausted. A lot of work goes into preparing for the Craft and Hobby show. Elves do not come, in the middle of the night and put the displays together for you...Or make sure everything is set in it's place--if it were only that easy. You have two days to set up the eye catching presentations and when it's all over, you have an afternoon to tear it all down. I am making sure I bring my ibuprofen and a hot pack lol. But really after all the hard work, the show can be extremely rewarding. Not just for the vendors, or retailers, but for the artists as well. Artists as a whole strive to make themselves known and CHA is the perfect opportunity.

I find it sometimes difficult though, trying to wade through the artists and designer who feel it's necessary to trample others to get their name out there. Respect flies out the window and the claws come out. Passive aggressiveness becomes a trend, and I end up at the bottom of the pile :/ I'm like the pretty displays; I work hard to build up my confidence and by the end, I'm in pieces at the bottom of a box. This year I refuse to be the one who ends up pushed aside. But I'm going to use my talents, presentation, and self respect to active my goals. If my talent and work ethic is not enough to give myself a leg up, then I guess I wasn't meant to be in this industry. I know and admire many men and women who strive to be morally sound artists and designers. They understand that throwing someone under the bus isn't going to help them achieve their goals in the end. You've just damaged a possible friendship or braking the will of a person who could have become an amazing designer. I am grateful to know them.

I hope that others take this in consideration when they walk into the convention center this weekend. Don't let the bright lights and fancy displays cloud your judgment and self respect.

Now I must go back to packing, something I should've started days ago ;) I hope to see some of you at CHA and can't wait to see all the people I have gained as friends because of this amazing industry. If you are planning to be in Anaheim, I will be working in the Prima booth.

Bring it on CHA! I'm ready!

Reflection, Life & Inspiration

Things have come about this past year that I could have never imagined happening. And this year looks like it might even have more in store.

I don't share this and actually haven't shared my feelings on this with anyone, (besides God and my husband) but felt it was something I needed to share. I needed to voice how I feel and maybe it will help me or others to see that what we are doing actually matters.

Short story...In 98' my now husband, a friend of ours, and I had gotten into a head-on collision. One that most people wouldn't have walked away from let alone survived. We were headed home when we came around a blind corner and was hit head on by a drunk driver. We went up and over the man's car and ended upside down. I hadn't been wearing a seat belt, and when I came to I realized that my head and half my upper body were outside of the front windshield. I remember looking up at the hood of the truck and was overwhelmed by the smell of gasoline and assault. The gasoline and dirt burned the small cuts in my scalp and a sharp pain shot up my leg. I had broken my leg and came out otherwise with only small cuts and bruises. All three of us came out without life threatening injuries!! The truck was totaled and the man got off scot free.

But you probably are asking why I share this horrible story. What has followed me through out the years is actually a phone call I had received a couple of days after that accident. A very close and long time friend had called me to see how I was doing. He had said to me that he didn't know what he would've done if I hadn't survived the car accident...His words stuck with me and I will remember that phone call for the rest of my life...

Because no more than a few weeks after he made that call that same friend died in a freak accident while riding his dirt bike out in the desert.

I often ask myself and God why had I survived and he did not. What in my life would become more important than what he could have accomplished. I also question whether or not the things I have accomplished are what God had planned for me. Am I good mother? Will my children love me and know how much I truly love them? I also wonder that maybe them, themselves are who will become the great outcome of my life. Maybe I was just the way they got here. I also ask, do my parents look at what I have accomplished and have set out to accomplish worth the life they have provided me?

I also ask if writing is what I was meant to do? If I don't succeed, will it matter, or is it that, I was brave enough to put pen to paper? Does my art matter, even if no one buys my work, or will it inspire someone else who will become a world renowned artist? Why was my life not up yet? What am I suppose to be doing and accomplishing?

I try to look at life with the thought that it could end at any moment and in truth it can! We never know when it can come to an end and while we're here we need to make the most of it. Put everything we have into loving and caring for those around us. Make sure you tell those important to you, that you DO love them each and every day. Make sure to tell yourself that you ARE important and no matter the outcome, what you do IS important as well. Don't be afraid to try something new, because that one thing might be what God had intended for you all along.

With a new year I want to remind myself of this and I hope it can inspire and help some of you as well. God has a plan for me and whether I have already accomplished his goals or his plan is still set out in front of me, I plan to put forth the time and effort to do it justice. I use my life as inspiration and I hope you all realize that your life in it's self is inspiring.

I will not waste this life...I refuse to waste this life and what it has in store for me.

Fear can hinder your life but Hope can encourage what it's meant to be.

Mixing Some Mediums With Canvas Corp.

Hi all I have some canvas fun to share with you today. I created this 12 x12 canvas using Canvas Corp canvas and burlap and 7 Gypsies embellishments. Did you hear!? 7Gypsies will now be part of Canvas Corp!! Now that is a match made in heaven. Their styles compliment each other and I hope my project today shows just one way they do :)

12 x12 canvas with a 4 x4 stretched burlap. A burlap rectangle tag. a couple of the small paper bags, one ivory scalloped tag and T-Pin and three small clothes pins. I also used some of 7 gypsies ephemera, stamp, and glass bottle.

I used Gel Medium to adhere the ephemera to the canvas, which also added a resist to the canvas. I added Golden Artist paint to add a pop of color. I gave the canvas an antiqued look with Glimmer mist in Walnut Gold, and Tim Holtz distressInk in Freyed Burlap. I added beads to the glass bottle and a crystal heart to accompany it on it's framed shelf.

Don't you agree that the two fit hand in hand. I hope this gives a little source of inspiration and can't wait to see what the two names come up with next. Have a wonderful Thursday.

CHA New Products

Hi everyone:) It's that time of year to save our pennies, bookmark those websites, and wipe the drool off of our computers. Yep it's CHA time again and this year I have a little bit of exciting news to share. Prima has used a few of my flower designs in their release!!! I know pinch me please. It is like a dream come true for me. I wanted to share a couple of designs today with you. (I have a few more to come) They are felt flowers I designed. I love the felt for it's warm and comfortable feel and the beaded accents add a quality feel. They even come ready with leaves and/or stems. I put a lot of thought in these and Prima has brought them to you amazingly!(I expected nothing less). These flowers will be perfect for any project. Scrapbook pages, cards, mixed media art, mini albums, or wearable art. Their material with withstand being compressed in an album or worn on a hat. There is an array of colors and styles fit for everyones style. I hope you enjoy them as well. Again here are a couple sneak peeks and more to come!

"Encore" Felt Flowers. Look at the hand stitching and bead work. With rich color and diminution.

"Cassie" Felt flowers. These can be opened up or kept closed. but inside is more beading detail. They have stems that can be twisted and curled to add detail to your projects.

A Happy New Mini For The Upcoming Year

Hello everyone!! I wanted to share with you my Mini album i created on Live With Prima. A great way to use the acrylic you have or bring back those mini albums. With all the mediums that are popular right now. Acrylic is the perfect product to use those mediums on. Take a look and I hope you enjoy.

Live With Prima Preview

Catching up here a bit :) Here is a recap of my last class and I wanted to share with you m classes this month. Some FUN projects coming.

I created a version of the Altered books I create, for the Christmas holiday. I loved the how Prima's Jack N Jill worked. And the Flocked Rub-ons were a perfect finishing touch. I hope you enjoy and would love any input you have ;)

Now for the month of December :) I will be doing one of my classes with my crafty little daughter. This class will be perfect to watch with your daughter, niece, granddaughter, or just that artistic little girl at heart. We will be creating mixable, wearable pieces using Prima's flowers, buttons, and masks. We will also alter a scarf perfect for the chilly winter days. :)

A Little Christmas Cheer

I wanted to share with you my last Live With Prima class. I created a fun little Christmas wreath and below you will find the video with all of the how to's. You can alter this project to any size and create small present toppers or party favors, or you can even expand it and make a giant wreath for your door :) I hope you enjoy.

Here is a LO I created using Prima and tattered Angels. I wanted to share a couple of techniques I used on this page :)

Pin It

When I was making the background. I started with Plain Watercolor paper. I used Prima's Brick wall Mask/Stencil and used Candy Apple Red glimmer Mist to spray the design onto the page. It was a little hard looking so I used Iridescent Gold glimmer mist over the top to soften it and make look like watercolors. The blue on my background is Grand Tetons Glimmer Glam. I simply poured the glam onto the paper and heat set it. I love the grunge artistic look to it.

Now another fun project I did was I took plain canvas and altered it with a white Sharpie paint pen. Drawing on the dots and spraying over the top of it with Candy Apple Red glimmer Mist. The Sharpie pen works awesome as a resist. :)

So Much Info All Packed into one!!

Well let see where I should begin. I was asked to become a Prima educator, Today was my last post for the Prima Design Team. I love those girls. They are some of the most talented women I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I am thankful for their support and encouragement. I look forward to working as an Educator for Prima. Hi I wanted to post the Ustream video here just incase you missed it. I will tell you to go ahead and skip into about min. six. I hit record a little too soon lol. I had so much fun making this Mini and showing how to incorporate mixed mediums into paper crafts. Hope you enjoy :)

New Tattered Angels :)

Happy Monday everyone! I know Monday and happy really don't belong together, but maybe we can't make it a trend or something. LOL

I wanted to share a few projects with you that I did for Tattered Angels this month.

First is this fun little wood box by Walnut Hollow I first painted Glimmer Glam on the box and then sprayed it with Chalkboard Mist. FOR COLORS AND PAINTS USED CHECK OUT THE TATTERED ANGELS BLOG FOR INFO AND LINKS TO THE PRODUCT :)

I used Prima's Mist.A.Bles canvas and cut out the flower shapes. I then folded them in half and layered them on top of each other. I took the three smaller flowers and over lapped them by thirds. and glued them together. I then took the three larger flowers and did the same. I then adhered them with Beacon adhesives together.

I made this LO using Prima canvas sheet and embellishments. Look at how the silkscreened image stands out against the Glimmer Mist! And how deep and colorful the custom colored flowers are.

Hope this gives you a couple of new ideas on using your mists and paints. :)

Fun Great News!!!

Hi everyone. I know it has been a LONG while since I have blogged. It has been insanely busy around here. I was lucky enough to go to CHA and spend the week seeing and meeting some amazing artists. Got to see a little bit of Chicago. Bought my Karls her first American Girl Doll. Wow it was fun but I think I slept for two days straight when I got home lol.

But anyways, I have a couple of pieces of exciting news. First this weekend, Karlie sang in her first singing competition and came in second place!! It was called The Ramona Idol. After weeks of auditions, they narrowed it down to twelve contestants. They all sang one song the first night. Karlie sang He's A Tramp from Lady and the Tramp. She made it through to the second night with seven other kids. She sang Walking After Midnight, by Patsy Cline and brought a couple family members to tears lol. Her and four other girls made it to the final round. They sang two songs in the last round. She sang Hot and Cold, by Katy Perry and Jar of Hearts by Christine Perry. Today they announced the winners!! I am so proud of her. She put all of her heart and soul into her songs.

And a second piece of happy news is that I will be a regular Educator on Live With Prima!!! I am so honored that they asked me to join such an awesome team!! Here is a sneak at my projects for the month. Some fun and easy techniques this month!! Hope to see you there!!

And....LOL I know when will it end ;) I have started a separate blog for my books. It would mean a lot if you would take a look. and spread the word to any of your friends who enjoy to read.

A New Adventure :)

We all have goals in life that may seem lofty to some, but we still surge forwards and pursue them anyways. We put the courage forward to try something, No matter if we succeed or fail. If we never put ourselves and talents out there. Man kind would not exist as we do today. Well enough with the pep talk and nonsense. I wanted to share with you a book that I have written. I have not gone to school to be a writer, but I had a story I wanted to tell. I know this will sound very Twilightesque but I had a reoccurring dream. Not of meadows and twinkly men lol but of a stronger bolder world. But this dream went on for weeks. Every night it would start where the previous night ended. So I began to just journal about it. The more I would write the less the dreams occurred. After they ended, i took a look at my journal and decided to enhance upon what I had written. And this whole story came about.

I have decided to self publish the books, yes I said bookS lol. A three part series. Even if the first book is not received well, I am forcing myself to continue and see this thing through. The first one is now currently available digitally through Barnes & Nobles and Amazon. Even if you don't have a digital reader, they can be read on your phone, or computer.

Here is short overview of the book. It is a paranormal/romance novel. It deals with Angels, demons, and a few others in between. It has a touch of faith and trust. A woman finding her true strengths and doing anything to protect those around her. Finding out more about herself and her soulmate than she could have ever imagined.

I created the covers of the books, nothing fancy, but I want people to read the book, not lose themselves in the cover. They are still eye catching, and hints to what the story is about.

Also at the end of the first book, I have include a list of music that inspired me when i wrote the first book. I am a huge believer in music feeds our emotions. Also there is a rough version of the two first pages for the second installment ;)

I Can FINALLY share!!

Okay I know yesterday's post was a downer and a little cruel but I really needed to show my appreciation for the team last year!!!

Now on to a new year with an amazing new team. I am blown away that I was asked back again this year. It was a dream come true last year when I was asked to join, this year, well I'm pretty sure I'm still dreaminglol. I continually ask the Hubs to pinch me. I shake my head in denial.

This year Prima has changed things up a bit and there is a group of designers that will highlight Mixed Media, and they considered me as one of them!!!!!!!!!!! This is a huge goal, I wanted to accomplish. To be considered as a Mixed Media Artist is a huge deal to me.

Thank YOu Prima!!

Yesterday was our last day as 2010 Prima Design Team. I can not fully describe how amazing these women are. Sharon is an AMAZING Design team coordinator !! Always available to answer questions, lend support, and motivation. The unbelievably talented women I met and got to know were encouraging and gracious! They helped me push myself in my designs and as a person. I am so thankful for the chance to work along side some of the best artists and women I know. Thank You!!

A Few Projects to Share and A WINNER!!

Wow it's been a while. So this might be a big one LOL. I got some happy news to share. My most favorite project was featured in Scrapbook Trends, For The Home idea book. :) I was so honored when they asked to use my project. and it turned out amazing!

I have been working on A LOT of projects these last few weeks. I wanted to share a few here. This one makes me happy :) The bright colors and softness, want me to have another wedding ;) Don't tell my husband that. Maybe just renew our vows? Yeah he would still flip. But at least I got to create pretties non the less. I used Prima Paper flowers and altered them with glimmer mist. Alaskan Salmon chalkboard mist and Turquoise Blue Glimmer Mist go so well together. :) It just might be my favorite color combo for Spring.

I used Vintage Trim and altered it with the Turquoise Blue Glimmer Mist to match it with the bouquet. The small teal flowers I found at Michaels, I sprayed those as well. Why not custom match your colors to everything. Create floral pieces you can cherish for a life time.

He he I couldn't help myself, I always wanted the ring in the bouquet pic so I did one myself.

This next piece was a fave with my friend Desi(Model) that I am going to make her one to match her own wedding coming up in July :) Isn't she going to make a beautiful bride!

Here are a couple of projects I created for Vintage Street Market! I love their Vintage kits and their paper lines. You MUST check them out!!

A couple country themed projects fir the Farmer's Market Kit perfectly. Living in a somewhat small town is one of the greatest blessings I could ask for. Having our kids grow up in a community still tied to roots and tradition is amazing.

Well there ya Go!!! Just a couple projects and I will try and post a few more this week.

Vintage Street Market

I posted my first project for Vintage Street Market, and can I just say that now, that I got to use the kits I am in LOVE with them even more!!! I made this shadow box, using the Party Games kit. Using the paper to cover the Maya Road Trinkets Box, was so easy. and the thick paper covered well while being easy to work with. I used Beacon's Fast Finish decoupage to cover the box.

I used black and white photos, so that colored photos wouldn't become lost in all of the rich color of the Party Games kit. This kit comes with a 2'x3' piece of crepe paper!!! I know right!?! I used some of it to trim the diecut heart in the center. The crepe paper can be sprayed and altered as well!

Adding a bold piece to the box, I used an Epiphany Felt flower with a PP backed button as the center. I added a touch of diamond stickles to the edges to add some shimmer.

I couldn't help but use this little girl :) She is just so darn cute.

Slacking off :)

So I had so many tasks to take care of these past couple of weeks, that my blog got neglected. So did the house work, my car....well you get the idea. Finally I have finished everything (for now) and I am getting back to the real world. The only thing I did not neglect were my kiddos. They are the only thing I will never go a day without spending time with. But back to business.
I had a night last week where I felt a little burnt out, exhausted, testy so i decided to create something on my terms. I love sculpting as you know and I felt I needed a little help with the house work so I created her...

.

I love how she ended up turning out, so I have two other "Real Mousewife" pieces I'm going to create. Just a touch of fun and whimsy in the midst of chaos and deadlines. :)

I had a request to video my next sculpture, so that she could see how i go about making my Polymer pieces. So I hope to get that done soon.

i hope she brings a smile to your face, and remember not to work too hard this week. Now I must attempt to put my house working skills to use :)

It's official!!

I can now share with EVERYONE :) That I was honored to be asked to join this new company Basically Bare Please make sure to check out their site and their wonderful projects. Here is just one that I have created using one of their cupcake sets.

I took the cardboard cupcake bottom and dipped it in UTEE Giving it a deep glossy look, the top was altered with Tattered Angels Chalkboard spray and then also dipped in UTEE to protect the color. I added sprinkles with Ranger Inc. White enamel and the cherry is also Basically Bare. Altered with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, thread and a little cherry added. A perfectly little piece of trendy jewelry.

Happy Easter

The time of spring, new life and new beginnings.

Here is a little project I made to celebrate the holiday. I found the egg at Michaels. It's like those pumpkins you can get there and carve. It was a not so attractive blue :P So I spray painted it and added the Prima lace. The inside of the top also has lace lining it.

Inside there is a special little surprise. A bunny holding a new born chick. I made these little guys out of polymer clay and painted them with acrylic paints. All of the flowers are Prima. The large flowers were white and I altered them first with Cadillac Pink Glimmer Mist then hand painted Apple Glimmer Mist on the tips. I wanted them to match the cherry blossom flowers.

The little eggs are also made from Polymer clay and painted with Chalkboard Glimmer Mists. I wanted them to still have a translucent look to them.

I stained the wood base with a Red Oak stain. (Hint if your finish is too dark and you want to take out some of the stain. Heat it with your heat gun. On unfinished wood the stain will seep back out of the wood and you can quickly wipe it off.)

Here is a close up of the two new friends. Don't those Prima Aire flowers work perfect in their little world.

The grass they are sitting on is actually Donna Downey Prima flower trim. I altered it with (Sprout) Chalkboard mist.

We all have that one place where we make messes, create art, or just sit in front of the computer in a zombie like daze, staring off into the world of Pintrest. Here is a look at my Creative/Zombie space. Note:I cleaned it just for the pictures and it has in a half a day returned to it's comforting messy self :D

Since I can't paint my walls I decorate with lots of color. Can you tell? lol

I love my desk. IKEA of course. I have a tempered piece of glass on top. I can use my heat gun with it and it will withstand the heat and I can use it as my paint palette and wipe it right off when I'm finished.

My shelf and riser are also form IKEA. I can store (Most) of my paints on my desk but still have the extra room on my desk.

I have to than Chez for this one. These are also from IKEA and they fit AC thickers perfectly!! And I love how I can see what is in each drawer.

And in the closet is where I store most of my tools and extra supplies.

Mixed Media Canvas

Burlap Love All!!! Take a look over at Funky Junk Interiors for SNS fun!!

I have been in a canvas sort of mood lately. And this first one is featured on Canvas Corp. Today!!! I have been waiting days to show you all :)

Wind in my hair and the sun on my face.

I used a 10 x10 raw stretched canvas and turned it around to create a more dimensional effect. The background started with two Fabric appliqué butterflies, that I adhered to the canvas with Gel medium. I took the gel medium and sporadically painted in other places on the canvas. I then sprayed the background with Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist. The Gel Medium acted as a resist, not allowing the mist to fully absorb. Then I used Golden Liquid Acrylic paint to create the swirls and accents on the background....

The girls hair is layers of course Molding Paste by Golden and Liquid Acrylics. Her dress was made out of a burlap tag by Canvas Corp. The flowers were made from a Canvas piece and altered with Candy Apple Red Glimmer Mist. To make them I cut out a circle then cut a slit half way into the circle, then coned the circle slightly and secured the two cut ends overlapping together. The centers are Push pen by Canvas Corp. altered with paint. I took the loose canvas around the frame and painted it with Paprika Glimmer Glam and pulled and formed it back to cover the staples, holding the canvas in place.

This next canvas I made a few weeks ago. On this canvas I started with a gessoed canvas. The background it Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Glam heat set. The girl is painted with Liquid acrylics and her hair is Clear Tar Gel and Liquid Acrylics by Golden.(Raw Umber and Titan Buff) I added a little more dimension with stamps by Prima Donna Downey and Studio Calico. Her dress was made from an old dress pattern and scrap leather.

The hearts are textured felt that were dipped in Beeswax. I also used the beeswax around the frame to add more texture. Prima flowers altered with Glimmer Mist add the perfect pops of color to the page.

And the finishing touch is a resin Flower I made from my mold and painted it with Flirty Glimmer Glaze.

A small way I can express myself. :) Wishing you a creative day.

Prima Spring Mini Album

Spring is here so let's "Go Green". More than just the color green. Let's think more about the planet and use a little "Green" in our projects. I created this Mini album with scraps and packaging from Prima.

The cover and back are pieces from a clear acrylic Prima album that I have been hanging onto for a couple of years now. Never knowing what to do with them and my mentality of "I better keep this, just in case I need it" I just couldn't get rid of them lol. So I finally found a purpose for them. I used Prima's Paintables clear stamps and stamped the edges with Staz-On black Ink. Then sporadically painted Glimmer Glam on the cover. (Organic Garden). Once it dried I sprayed the cover with Chalkboard glimmer mist(Inch Worm) and heat dried it. The white frame is from the $1 bin at Michaels. The banner is made from a scrap piece of canvas I had in my stash.

Maya Road's envelopes worked awesome as filler pages in this little album. I embellished them with Prima clear stamps and Hydrangia flowers, on the edge.

Here I distressed and altered two pieces of Prima packaging and sewed them together with a scrap piece of lace between the two. It made the perfect base for a background.

On this envelope, I took the scrap edge of a Prima Journaling card to embellish the opening. I used scrap paper to make the large envelope for the next page.

Here is more Prima packaging, sewn and used as a tag to display pictures of my kiddos.

I often cut apart my Say It In Crystals. and have ends and bits left over. I took a few of my left overs and used them on this page.

In a package of flowers there are always those flowers that end up in the bottom of your stash. I took a couple of my white flowers and altered them to match my project.

Prima has their Monthly Product Picks for the month. I love all of the green! It reminds me of the first signs of Spring and of course St. Patty's Day :)

Here is my take on the color palette and highlighting some of the Picks.

And I also sent off my submissions for the final round of Graphic 45's Design Team Call.
I altered this book using Graphic 45 Le Cirque Paper Line. The front was painted with acrylic paint to give the appearance of a circus tent. Adding just a touch of dark brown paint took my gold and red tent to completely different level. I wish I had taken before and afters. Shading creates so much dimension.

I also used Le Cirque on this LO. I drew out the white title with a white Prismacolor pencil. I'm not a big fan of scrapbooking holiday themes, I know how lame. But i loved these pics of the kids from Halloween, and they fit perfectly with the paper.

I will fully admit, I am not a card maker lol. Here is my attempt. I added Glimmer Glaze to elements of the card to make them stand out.

Leather Sort of Mood

I showed you last week a leather cuff i made, using Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze. I've made a couple more.

I started with Gray leather and altered it with Glimmer Glaze (Icicle, Waterfall, Midnight Rendezvous)Also made matching earrings as well :)

The base of this bracelet was altered with Penny Loafer Glimmer Glaze. The bow was kept natural.

A Few Projects to Start The Week

Mondays! Who's idea was it really to create Monday? lol Don't mind me I've been up since 3am this morning, so my mind is ready for bed already :)

But anyways...I made a few projects I would like to share with you.

Here is my take on this months Build A Page with Prima.

I used papers from The Reflections Collections to create this LO of little Q man. I love the rich warm colors. I used an 8x8 mask and outlined it in pen and then took a prismacolor pencil and shaded around it.

I Love these flowers!!

Also this month I worked with fabric and the always amazing Tattered Angels paints. My first piece is an apron I made out of white flannel and altered it with glimmer mist. I layered and blended the colors. (Pomegranate, Fully Purple, Wild Currant, June Berry Wine, and Raven) I even added little holders on the bow for scissors, pens, ect.

My little Kewpie Doll needed a dress so I reused a pair of Karlie's worn out jeans and made this dress out of them. I added a doily and some Prima Lace trim to finish it off. (Bahama Blue, Raven, Autumn Nights, Candy Apple Red, and Cranberry Zing)

And last but not least I used the same white flannel as the apron and made this headband. Using Glimmer Glam, glaze and mist I stiffened the material and made this flower. (Peach Bellini Glam, Orange Crush glaze, and Marmalade Glimmer Mist)

When using mists on an item you may use often try treating it with scotch guard. It will make it possible to spot treat. Happy Monday everyone and I hope you have a wonderful week. :)

Fun In Wonderland And Some Exciting News!!!!

Ok first off I am SOOOO Excited EEEKKK I made the first cut and I am in the top 25 for Graphic 45's DT call!! I am over the moon, but nervous at the same time lol. I need to send three projects to them and I don't know if I should make new ones, send some of the ones I have already done or what lol. I have the whole weekend to figure it out I guess. But I wanted to say congrats to the other amazingly talented people who made the cut and can't wait to see who they choose as their new Design Team. Good lucky everybody :)

Ok so........
I did another Tim Holtz Configurations Box this week. And my inspiration came from our favorite girl Alice. I am really loving these Tim Holtz Configuration boxes. I may need to get a few more.

This one started out with me making a few little mushrooms and it evolved into this.

All of the pieces, except the bottle, key and Prima flowers were hand sculpted and painted. The mini Alice and Caterpillar came at the end. I have it posted on Etsy. My first listing there. And someone featured it on their picks. I put a lot of time and detail in it and hope someone decides to take it home and enjoy it.

Oh yeah on last crafty thing. Cnavas Corp is having an awesome contest right now, make sure to go and check it out!!!

I am so tired and thanks to my parents I will be kidless this weekend so that means SLEEPING IN!!! They will have a fun filled weekend at the river and I will have a little peace and quiet lol. My best buddies will be home before I know it :)

A little personal note. Quentin goes in next Wed. to have tubes put in and possibly his adenoids taken out. I am a nervous nell, I know it is a very common procedure, but still. Also I am thinking of keeping him from school till then so he doesn't come down with another cold. If he does they can't do the procedure. As some of you know he has a huge speech delay. I have been fighting with doctors for the last couple of years trying to get his issues handled. They said things from autism, to lack of intelligence, to a brain defect (never testing him) just rattling off conditions. And not once ever taking into account how many ear infections he has had over the years, or that when he is seen he always has fluid in his ears, infection or not, or that his speech therapist felt that it was a physical problem and stated so. It got so bad that I even had Children's Hospital tell me that I had never seen the ENT!! Like we never even existed. It's been a very stressful and long road. He is coming up on Kindergarden and besides his issues with hearing and speech would have no problem adjusting to school. This has been holding a very intelligent and happy boy back. And fingers crossed this will help him progress. Ok thanks I feel a little lighter now thank You

A little Leather and Glaze

This month over on Tattered Angels Blog the design team is working on using Tattered Angels paints with Fabrics. I got a little ahead of myself and also did a project out of leather lol. You'll have to wait and see what I created out of fabric till the 7th, but for now take a look at a leather cuff I made out of scrap leather from Michaels, Glimmer Glaze and a few eyelets. The cuff measures. 7 1/2 x 2". There are three different leathers all treated with Glimmer Glaze.

The base piece was painted with Sugar Cane and buffed with Cowboy. I used a fan brush to apply it, It gives it a more even smooth coat.

The bow and circle pieces were painted and sealed with Cowboy. The glaze did an amazing job of sealing the edges of the leather, keeping them from shedding apart. It also Brings out the grains of the leather, making them look richer and deep.

I applied all of my eyelets with my Crop-A-Dile. That thing is a monster lol. It had no problems punching through two to three layers of thick leather.

Hope this inspired you to pull out those paints and try them on something new. Have a wonderful week.

"Spring" Configuration Box

I am so over winter! I needed a little pick me up so I decided to decorate a Tim Holz Configurations box. I had flowers on the brain. I love planting annuals and seeing all of the color in the yard. So I filled every open space with a little Prima goodness :)

The box was altered with book pages and Beacon Fast Finish Decopage. I love that is a liquid instead of a paste. It goes on with less mess and dries quicker. Once it was all dry I inked it with Tim Holtz Distress inks.

The tree is made out of Polymer Clay. I baked it in the oven and then painted it with Golden liquid acrylic paints The leaves are made out of heavy matte Gel and paint and the grass is made with Coarse Pumice gel and paint. The Pumice gel has an awesome gritty texture to it. It's one of my favorite textured gels. I stole a tire off one of Quentin's toy cars. Believe me he will NOT miss it. The kid has enough cars to choke a horse. A little copper wire and it made the perfect swing. :) Living in the country we always had a tree swing. And many bruised bums from trying to do crazy tricks on them lol

My little frog prince needed a pond , and it reminded me of the water and river season. I used Gallery Glass to create the water. It's a glass paint you can find in any Michaels. It's used for fake stain glass. I painted the backgrounds of most of the boxes with Bienfang Watercolor pens. They are so easy and conviniant

I used Martha Stewart Micro beads to fill my little seed bottle.

I seldom do this but I love the smell of sheets that have been hung out to dry. It's a sign that spring and nice weather are here. I made the backdrop out of blue Micro beads and Liquid pearls. There is also a little Maya Road tree in the background.

Spring and summer also means I get to leave the door open and let the breeze and fresh air in. The screen door is my friend. I made the door out of Prima packaging and some fiber screen.

And there wouldn't be spring without all of the song birds out. I have a large feeder right in front of our window. Love to watch all of the finches and sparrows come and eat.

I added a Tim Holtz watch face to signify time and made the banner out of wood paper and colored them with watercolors. I adhered them with Beacon Fabri-Tac.

I made my little flower garden out of Maya Road pins and Prima Flowers. I bent the pin heads and glued the flowers on. The soil is Tim Holtz Distress Stickles.

Graphic 45 Design Team Call

I decided to give it a go :) Here is one of my projects I created for the call. All of my designs have their own page at the top of my blog.

I used an old Readers Digest Garden book to create this altered book
I Used the Once upon a Springtime paper line to decorate it. I embellished it with Prima Flowers as well.

I altered the inside of the book with Watercolor Pens and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. The trees greenery was created with Pumice Medium by Golden and sprayed with Chalkboard Mist.

I decided to create this little fairy's wings with Cellophane and Gallery Glass Paint.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful, love filled day today. We don't make a huge deal around our house but we do share little goodies with each other. You should love one another everyday. Don't be afraid to share your true feelings, never hold back because there will come one day they won't be there to share them with.

Onto a lighter note :) Here is my take on this month's Prima's BAP . I used one of Prima's new Misting screens as a stamp to create my background.

The bright bold pink gives my page a pop of color.

I love these vintage trinkets soo much, they add the perfect touch to any project.

Polymer Clay OOAK Doll

I have done pottery and sculpting but never attempted anything with Polymer Clay before, and nothing at this small of scale. It is far from expert but here is my first attempt at an OOAK doll. This takes a lot of finesse.
Supplies Used:
Clay- Super Sculpey
Clay tools
Flowers-Prima
Paint- Golden Liquid Acrylic, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist
Hair- Generously donated from one of Karlie's Barbies ;)
Adhesives-Beacon Fabri-Tac

This is what my sculpture looked like right before I baked it.

And this is the finished result.

Her lashes came loose in the pic sorry. I hate when that happens lol.

Truth behind idea of the fusion between the fairy and tree came from me unable to get her hands and feet right soooo it merged into this.

The flowers were white Prima flowers that I altered with Glimmer Mist and paint. I first sprayed the flowers with Bronze then painted the centers with Rum Punch.

Her head of hair was created with Barbie hair, I know it's not all fancy but it's what I had and the pink stood out to me. Luckily Karlie had no qualms about giving me the barbie. Anything for art. I cut it from the barbie and adhered it by layers to the polymer clay.

I need to work more on my proportions and those damn eyes. Also those darn things called arms and legs. Practice makes near perfect lol. Not sure if this will become a regular thing but it was a fun detour to the usual :)

Canvas Corp. Stretched Burlap

I am kind of in love with stretched Burlap.....I created this wall hanging using Canvas Corp.s 18 x 18 stretched Burlap. The burlap made it easy to stitch, and painted up perfectly. It gives a warm feel. The burlap lends it's own appeal to the project.

I used a Sharpie Paint pen to draw out the letters and then painted them in with white paint. The house was constructed with a Canvas tag and a small piece of burlap. The star on the door is by Melissa Frances. I used Golden's Coarse Pumice Gel to add texture to the ground and then sprayed it with Tattered Angels Chalkboard spray. The flowers are made with a pin and Prima flowers.

The roof is constructed out of cardboard and vintage sheet music. I colored the star using Cowboy Glimmer Glaze. The chimney is covered with micro beads.

A little Tip if you notice your stretched burlap loosening. Just grip some of the slack out of it around the frame and add a couple of extra staples where you grip the extra slack at and it's good as new. Only added four staples and never loosened again. Burlap is a looser knit material than canvas so you will have a little slack.

Vintage Trinkets!!! LOVE

One of my FAVORITE new lines with Prima is their Vintage Trinkets. Marion Smith designed some amazing pieces, and they inspired me to create this necklace.

I love the milk glass pieces. I would have to say those are probably my favorite in the series. You could alter these so easliy with Tattered Angels Glimmer glaze or glam.

I love the hammered vintage look of the pieces. The perfect mix of shabby but elegant.

The cute little locks work perfectly at adding links in a chain. The collections blends so well together. The chain was purchased at Michaels. The purple flower and purple beaded chain is from Prima's Scrapbook jewelry Line.

Metal can be plain or it can be OUTSTANDING !! :) Oh and a Little Thank You

This month over at Tattered Angels the uber talented designers are working with metal and Tattered Angels paints. There are so many different possibilities combing these two mediums.

With Valentine's Day around the corner I decided to create this little banner. The banner is made out of embossed tin. Using Tim Holtz's brick wall embossing template. I then sprayed them with Polka Dot Pink Chalkboard Spray. Heat set it with my heat gun and then gently rubbed some of the mist off for a distressed look. The heart and coil flower were also made with tin as well. The scallop on the edges of the tags are Foam Bumpers cut in half and the sticky side was covered with black glitter. The foam Round Bumpers are made by Canvas Corp. One of my new Favorites!! The black and white pp is also by Canvas Corp.

Colors used Polka Dot Pink, Strawberry Short cake and Chandelier Glimmer Glam (MY FAVE)

I've had this little black leather journal, sketch book, ramblings lol And it looked plain so I took a Fancy Pants metal tag and Tim Holtz metal frame and altered them with Chalkboard sprays. I love the the sprays marbled on the metal. Colors used Peacock and Decadence, and a small splash of Water Fall Glimmer Glaze.

For my last project I had these earring bases that were boring beyond belief so I spruced them up with some Glimmer Glaze and Prima ELine jewels.

The colors Used: Orange Crush and Flirty Glimmer Glaze. I love how the glaze altered the little hearts :) I think miss Karlie with look super cute on Valentines with these on.

P.S. I would like to thank the amazing supportive women I got to know a lot more at CHA this year. It is so nice and very encouraging to meet artists who are not afraid to support, help and inspire others. Being true to themselves not putting on a false self to impress others, Not stepping on others toes to make it to the top. Being creative in their own right, not depending on others for ideas. Prima Altered Book

This is my favorite project of last year. I created this altered book for Prima's booth and I finally get to show it to you :D I may be putting together a class on how to do this technique if anyone is interested. This is a fun way to reuse old books and give them a new life. Jack N Jill needed a little scenery.

Here is another book I had altered using the same idea a while back. I have a pile of books waiting to be altered. One is in the midst of becoming an art journal.

Home from CHA Vintage Street Market

Hi there, here is a very little post....I was a bad, bad girl this weekend and took little to no pics. I was crazy busy and if I wasn't busy, my feet hurt too much to care lol. I do want to share with you a couple of photos I took inVintage Street Market's Booth. I am in love with their new kits. the paper is a great thickness for altered projects,cards, and LOs. They have fun, bold designs and colors. And they come with 2' x 3' sheets of foil paper and crepe paper HELLO lol. You really need to check out their site. My pics do not do them justice. I am so excited for them, they were my favorite new Company this year.

So as you can see this really is the extent of my pics for the weekend. My camera was in hibernation in the hotel room, feeling very neglected. I may just have to search facebook for pics lol.

So we head to CHA tomorrow YAY!!!! I am so excited lol I have been counting the days. Getting to see all of my talented friends, checking out all of the new designs, and just plain getting out of the house is a real treat. I hope to blog while I am there but I am not making any promises lol. Today is full of cleaning house, packing, getting the kiddos ready for grammy's house, and cleaning some more lol.

One little project I created for Prima's CHA booth is this 10 x10 canvas. I sprayed the canvas with Tattered Angels Chalkboard spray (Strawberry Shortcake) Using one of Prima's NEW masks. They are very durable but still have flexibility. They come in so many different shapes and sizes this year. :) Check out PRIMA's Blog today to see some of the new designs, and some of the inspiration made by the uber talented artists.

There is also a few little touches of Prima's new "Sweet Fairy" Collection on here as well. This line is sweet and stunning, You have the cute little fairies on some and gorgeous roses and flowers on others. A perfect mix for a feminine line.

The calendar is removable and can be replaced each year. THe months are perforated so they can be torn off.

Prima And Tattered Angels Reveal !!!

So the news is out and I am so excited to tell you about what's new at Prima and Tattered Angels. Look at the great, fun new products out this CHA :) Here are a few projects I created using them. Here is the post on Prima's Blog showing all of the lovely samples the DT made.

The colors I used on this LO (which also are Prima's Favorite colors ;)) Patina, Cranberry Zing, Suede, and Bronze.

On this corner flower I dipped the flower in the Cranberry Zing then sprayed it with Bronze to spread the color.

This necklace was made with a canvas butterfly I cut out of a 12 x 12 sheet that has many different shapes and sprayed it with Suede, stamped the leaves and embossed it with a clear coat of UTEE. Added Prima's new Vintage Trinkets to the bottom.

This headband was also made with the 12 x12 shapes sheet. I folded the flowers to make this 3D flower.

These canvas sheets absorb the glimmer mist with ease and holds your colors true. There are so many possibilities with these new Canvas sheets. Make sure to continue and check in with Prima and Tattered Angels for more CHA previews and sneak peaks.

COLOR CONNECTIONS!!! Hint!

Anyone who is a scrapbooker and breathing knows that it's that coveted time of year again. CHA comes to town. And every manufacture, designer, and artist is gearing up for the show. I am sooo excited! This year I will be helping out 3L Adhesives (Scrapbook Adhesives). I will be doing Make and Takes Monday and Tues. So make sure you swing by to see me and to see what new goodies Scrapbook Adhesives has in store. You will not want to miss out.

I have been working for the past couple of weeks on Prima goodies for the show. I think I can honestly say that the releases this year are my favorite by far!! And I am not just saying that either ;) The goodies coming out have stirred major inspiration. There are some other booths I can NOT wait to see!! Webster's Pages, Ranger, Tim Holtz, Tattered Angels. I think those would be like my top four.

Here are a couple sneaks of Prima's releases. Make sure to check in to their blog the next few weeks for sneak peeks and give-a-ways!!

On this LO I used one of Prima's new masks as a dry embossing template. Once it was embossed, I sprayed the mask with Glimmer mist and pressed it into the impression. And ran a brayer over it. See masks and stencils are for more than just spraying ;)

My favorite flowers of the season are on this page. The two larger tan colored flowers with the stems in the middle. They remind me somewhat of Cherry blossoms. I LOVE <3 This paper line is the Botanical Collection. Very soft and floral. Beautiful.

Prima BAP

Hello and Happy New Years :)

It is that time of the month (no not that one) that Prima has the BAP sketch up. This month I created a LO around my little Pooch, Gidget. She is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. She loves riding in the front seat, even though she is too short to see out the window LOL Maybe I should get her some phonebooks or something. Anyways, I used Prima's Road Trip Collection for the papers and embellished with misc. Prima Flowers. I sewed the layers of my background to mimic the background design.

I have been working for days on NEW Prima projects for CHA. I can't show you anything yet but let me tell you, you will be blown away by their new product and paper lines coming out. I love it all. I can't wait to show you what I have been working on. Make sure you stock Prima's blog here in the coming weeks to see the reveals to come.

Christmas Recap

Yay it is finally over :) I love Christmas but it can be so stressful. So many people forget that it's the time of year for joy, peace, and harmony.

Weather did not permit Christmas Photos this year, so I tried to get at least one with the kids in their Christmas best. :) We spent Christmas Eve at my Grandpa's house. We all get together,eat watch the kids open presents and do a white elephant gift exchange. It is so fun.

Here is a pic of my mom and Q, hanging out watching everyone play pool.

Christmas morning the kids woke up surprised to find new bikes. Karlie also got a desk form Santa:) Just like moms she was so excited.

After we opened presents at our house we headed to my mom and dad's house.

My family has a unique sense of humor lol. As you can tell by my sister's ingenious decorating idea.

My parents spoiled all of us this year. And the barn of course went to Karlie, She has a slight obsession with horses.

Yes that is a red rider BB gun. Thanks to my sis and her man. First thing that came to mind. "You will shoot your eye out!" Seriously he's four. That will be tucked away for a few years.

And my little buddy got her own "New" scrapbook kit.

We had a great weekend with family and hope everyone had a safe and Merry Christmas. Now on to the new Year !! :)

Christmas Traditions

Over on Prima's Blog this month the Prima girls have been sharing what traditions we celebrate during the Holiday season. I enjoy reading all of the different activities from around the world and seeing how much we differ and how much we are a like.

Make sure you check in. and check in on Sharon's Day of Christmas. She has a little give a way as well ;) Christmas is my favorite time of year as most of you know. I love the color and warmth, the meaning of Christmas, the time we get to share with friends and family.

We always go out to the River with my parents and have a neighborhood party on Thanksgiving Weekend. It's a lot of fun and everyone decorates their golf carts and parades them through the community. We decorate the houses as well.

My little snow angel Karlie. Her and Quentin love spending time out there playing in the dirt, running around with friends. It's a great group of people to be with.

I tried getting a little tricky with my camera. And drew my initial out of the Christmas lights that were hung on the fence.

My dad and his Rhino all deck out ready to go. His co pilots sitting in the back pestering him to get a move on.

I wanted to give a personal touch to some of my gifts this year. So I decided to create my own wrapping paper. Very simple and inexpensive. If any of you have children and they have that lovely roll of drawing paper, steal a little. I used a Prima clear stamp and repeated the design over the drawing paper. Then I sprayed it all with Glimmer Mist. The rolled paper stands up well with the mist and does little buckling. I then added some May Art ribbon and Prima flowers and vines to accent the packages. The small beads on the vines came clear. I altered them with Copic Sketch markers. Custom coloring them to match my project.

Holiday decor can add a personal warm touch to your home or others. I reused some plain cardboard and cut them into the shape of a set of wings. Once they were layered and adhered I painted over them with a dry brush and Gesso. The flowers and banner add just the right color to the white wings.

And I couldn't leave out Karls. This was her favorite Christmas dress. It had been a flower girl dress that I dyed red for the holidays. Why not reuse a formal dress for more than one occasion. Get your money's worth. Especially with children's clothes. The color with the tule came out more pink but it looked festive and Christmasy non the less. The Flirty Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze matched perfectly, so I altered the Prima flowers with it. The round lolly pop flowers are actually pieces to one of Prima's necklaces. You can always deconstruct one thing to create another.

Christmas Cheer

Hello everyone. Can you believe we only have like a week left before Christmas!! *Scream*Scream* LOL Yeah I'm one of those last minute shoppers. I have been scrapping though. Here are a few projects I've been working on, using Websters Pages. I love their Christmas lines. They never over do it and still looks soft and pretty. I am very much the Victorian Christmas. Not a huge fan of your a typical RED and GREEN lol.

Karls my little best friend always inspires me. Even when she's been running around on a sugar high, playing in the dirt. I love that girl :) On this LO I used a fun little pen. It's a snow marker, made by Marvy. You draw and then heat it up with your heat gun and it puffs up like snow. I know they've been around forever. But it was fun to resurrect an oldie but goodie.

On the vellum background of the Lo I used alcohol ink and my can of compressed air to ink the page. The vellum helped spread the ink out and give it a watercolored look.

Here is a close up of some of the snow Marker. Adding to the already beautiful Prima Flower. I also used it on the birdcages as well.

My next Christmas project I made a tree. I used different trims and PP to spiral up a chipboard cone. The paper spiral flowers are accented with Martha Stewart MicroBeads. I lightly dabbed Tombow Mono Multi glue around the edges and poured the beads over the top. Once the glue set, I have yet to lose any :) The Websters Bloomers trim and altered it with Tattered ANgels Glimmer Mist. The color I used was Candy Cane. The bottom of the tree is a wooden candle holder I found unfinished at Michaels. It's painted with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze (Cowboy)

This Month With Tattered Angels

This month with Tattered Angels, we have working with all of the great paint products Tattered Angels provides and using it on glass. So many different possibilities when using these two mediums together. Here are a few.

On my first project I decided to alter a mason jar to hold votive candles. I dabbed on Glimmer Glaze (Cowboy,Flirty) with the same applicator as you would use on alcohol ink. (Felt) The Glimmer Chip owl was altered with Glimmer Glam as well. The Glaze creates a translucent shimmery color. The warm colors blend well with my Christmas Decorations. :)

Next project is this fun mirror I made for Karlie. Just a little reminder when she peeks into it. How special she really is.

I first masked off my heart shape with tape. Then painted over the mirror with Glimmer Glam (Bordeaux) Once that was dry I splattered it with Chalkboard Spray (Strawberry Shortcake) and heat set it with my heat gun. The wood frame was painted with the Bordeaux Glimmer Glam and sprayed with Pinecone Glimmer Mist. I drew on my frame and filled the empty spaces with Glimmer Glaze (Flirty) The flowers were altered with Pinecone and Tuttie Fruiti Glimmer Mist. The black pen I used to outline the hearts was an Elmers Painters Pen.

For my last project I decided to recycle a picture frame to create a piece of stained glass. I took the backing off and glued the glass into the frame. I used Gallery Glass Simulated Liquid Leading and drew out my design. Tip: You can print out a design or draw your own and set it under your piece of glass and trace over the top of it.

Once the Liquid leading was dry I heavily painted in the open spaces with Glimmer Glaze (Midnight Rendezvous,Flirty,Emerald Cove) Easy project and gift for Christmas.

Paper Piecing with Prima

I made a couple of Los doing some paper piecing to decorate my page.

Paper piecing is everywhere on pages still. Whether it's a hand made flower,hand cut tree, or a cute lil animal. We all enjoy adding our own artistic touches to the page.

Here are some tips when trying to create a handmade piece.
~When using an exacto knife when hand cutting make sure the blade is sharp. It will eliminate tearing and give you clean cuts.
~Use thicker paper. It will be easier to get intricate cuts and not bend or distort your project.
~You can always find templates online if you need help with ideas.

On this first Lo I created the tree and the pumpkins by paper piecing. The tree was two steps. First I drew out the mirrored image I wanted on the backside of the paper (So my pencil lines wouldn't show) Then used my very sharp exacto knife and cut out the openings. I then glued another piece of patterned paper to the back to show depth.

The leaves in the tree are Prima felt stems that I altered with embossing powder and I also inked the backing paper and use those as well. I inked the edges of my LO with Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

On this little gem I made the wagon from some scrap Patterned Paper. I covered the paper in clear UTEE and heat embossed it, to give it the look of shiny metal. Giving the wagon angles instead a straight profile it makes it more eye appealing.

And I you can see I like it so much I made it into my blog header lol...Make sure I like the look of it for sure. I think this would be a really good Christmas present. Me... I feel marriage is important. It almost seems like people don't take it seriously, or try to sabotage their marriage. The odds are even against us. But I say who cares what "they" say is suppose to happen or what is the "it" thing to do. Marriage and commitment is not meant to be a fad. So sometimes they may fail, it may not turn out exactly as planned and it might be scary to put yourself forward and try but believe in it anyways. Believe it can survive the challenges and heartache you may go through. Nothing in life is perfect. Everything takes work to turn out right. Keep believing in it anyways......

Wood Stamp Block Art

I have been removing all of my rubber stamps off of their wood backings and I didn't want them to go to waste. So I painted this watercolor on one. It's watercolor pencils, Bienfang Watercolor pens and charcoal pencil. The background was first primed with Gesso. May start a few of these. A little art outlet with out the overwhelming size of a large canvas :) I also started a Art Journal and hope to post some pics soon of that.

Balboa Botanical Gardens

Last weekend I took a trip down to Balboa Park in San Diego. There they have museums, Theater, and the botanical gardens. Here are some pictures of the gardens. :)

This is said to be the largest Lath structure in the United Sates, here is some more info on the Botanical Gardens if you like :)

Reuse/Repurpose Your Wood Stamps

In a recent Tattered Angels Posts I blogged about using Old wood mounted stamps in a project. I wanted to go into a little more depth of how I did it. I LOVE using Tattered Angels on wood. It shows up so vividly and covers easily. When you use it on unfinished wood It draws out the natural grain of the wood. So pretty, but back to my stamp project.

I started with some of course wood based stamps. I pulled the rubber stamp off., most were pretty old so they took little effort. Some I came back in with my Ranger Inc. little spatula tool and scrape the remaining foam off. There will still be the sticky adhesive left behind. I took some acetone and soaked the wood in it. Then went back in with my spatula (anything with a strong edge will work fine) and got as much of the adhesive off as I could. If you don't get it off 100% don't fret. It can add cool affects to your project. Don't worry about the labeled side of the stamp unless you plan on a two sided project.

You can see on the "e" block that there was a large square stamp on this stamp. The edge came out darker than the center.

Once the acetone is completely dry you can move onto your altering. I first took my Clear Tattered Angels stamps a stamped onto the blocks. I used a StazOn ink so that my image wouldn't run while spraying and painting. My next step is to take my Glimmer Glaze and Glimmer Glam and roughly painted it on like weathered wood. Odd up and down strokes. These will create a resist for the glimmer mist. The left over adhesive residue also creates a resist. To get a real antiqued look I didn't wait for the glaze/glam to completely dry. I waited until it was slightly tacky still. That way when I sprayed and dabbed the excess spray off with a paper towel it would also pick up the last spots of glaze that was still wet. On a couple of the blocks I went back over with another darker layer of glaze to antique them more. :) To draw on the letters I used a Sharpie Paint Pen. It went over the glaze and glam with no problems.

Colors used: Coffee Shop Glimmer Glaze: Cowboy, Flirty, Emerald Cove, Midnight Rendezvous Glimmer Glam: Rockin on Sunshine and Bordeaux Stamps used: Nature Field Notes, Grand Scale Garden Notes

Day at Balboa Park Pic Heavy....

My sis Jeri and I went down to Balboa park today. Here is a little history on Balboa Park if you like....

Here are a few structural pictures I took while we were down there. And of corse it started getting overcast when we got down there. So all my settings for lighting were a waste lol.

This tree is over 90 years old, The Moreton Bay fig was planted in 1915. It was the central focal point of the main garden when Balboa was started.

This carousel has all wood animals on it. It was built in the early 1900s. Originally placed in Los Angels. And was later moved to San Diego.

It was so nice to take the day and visit one of the major landmarks in San Diego. I also took a bunch of pics of the Botanical Gardens but I'll save those for another day :) Now to scrap some of these lol. Thank You for stopping by.

Tattered Angels Pretties :)

I finally get to show you what I made for the TA DT call!! YAY!!

My first project is this handbag. Using CI blank white barrel bag I made patch worked pieces with raw canvas, Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Screens. I sewed each one separately and adhered them to the Barrel bag. The flower is hand cut and also altered with Glimmer Mist.

I also made this little bracelet using cotton and glimmer mist for the band and satin for the flower. The satin was sprayed with glimmer mist and heat set with my heat gun. I like doing that because it creates more of a watercolor affect. I heated up the Glimmer Glass wings with my heat gun to bend them.

On my little card I used one of Kaiser Craft wood frames and altered it with Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist. I stamped the wicked looking tree and used Flower Soft to enhance it and make it look cheery :)

I made the flowers on this page out of my used paper towels. I always have paper towels laying on my table. Mostly covered in Glimmer mist. So why not reuse them. Go Green :)

Last but not least a LO of my Little Q. I will always be obsessed with Sassafras Lass Monstrosity Line. LOVE IT lol.

I have a few projects I've been working on using Wood. Reusing and repurposing, it will be up on Tattered Angels Blog this Sunday. Make sure to head over this month and check out what everyone is creating. So much new and returning talent. I am so excited to see all of the creativity!!

Happy Halloween!!!

It is that spooky time again. Halloween where kids go into sugar overload. Where their super powers of driving me nuts goes into cosmic power LOL. I love making the kids costumes. And this year was no different. Q wanted to be Iron Man, then he changed his mind about ten times before we left the store sooo I made it instead. And he loved it, it was a hit. Some may say I am cruel and unusual :D Quentin was a trash bag this year :) I painted his face to look like a rotten pumpkin. He thought he looked like a tiger lol. So he went around all night roaring like a tiger.

Karlie's school asked that the kids dressed up as a favorite story book character. She dressed up as the Fuzzy Bunny. She likes when I make her costumes, she already knows what she wants to be next year lol A Cat!

Mr. Q had a blast Trick or Treating. It was really the first year where he actually got what was going on. Saying please and thank you = CandY!!! LOL

Also a little reminder My Stash-To-Treasure Classes start tomorrow. :)

Prima Projects

Hi everyone :) I can't believe how fast this year has gone. We are already into Fall AHHHHH!!!! I have a few new Los that I've been working on. I just finished some for Tattered Angels today :D They'll be up on the Tattered AngelsBlog on the 23rd. of OCt. Can I just say Glimmer Mist Never gets old lol.....I got weird looks today because I had it all over my hands. Huh oh well. At least it looks like I got something done.
One this Lo I stamped the ribbon with a Prima clear stamp to add detail.

The first picture of Fall. We don't get much of a fall setting here in southern CA so I take it where I can get it lol. I used a cheap paper doily (Dollar Tree) on the front and sprayed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Olive vine, Apple. Then on the back side I sprayed it with Coffee Shop Glimmer mist and tore the edges outward towards the front. Cut up a Prima felt gate and also used some of Prima's clear packaging as my backdrop. The darker boarder is colored in with Copic marker

Out In The Pumpkin Patch :D

Wonderful, beautiful friends of ours, Steve and Carol ;) Invited the kids over to pick out pumpkins today.

And of course my camera got one photo out and the battery died :( So I took pictures with my phone. They have awesome affects but I was hoping to do my own :( and have larger size pics, but at least I got some lol. Q spent the whole time wiping his feet off lol. Kid has issues......no clue where he gets that from 0:)

If any of you have an android phone this is an app you can get in the droid market called Retro Camera. It comes with five different vintage cameras. It's sooo fun.

Inspiration The Color Room

It was fun to customize the crystals to match my page.

Hand Made Hair Piece

I had a wedding to go to last weekend and I wanted to feel pretty :) So I made a little feathered hair piece. I started with a small piece of felt and glued on the feathers in a spray with Fabri-Tac. After the feathers were set I topped it off with a Tim Holtz Watch face and a satin bow. Easy :)

Monday Karlie begged me to wear it :) Now I have the bug to make a bunch LOL

I have been searching for my imagination a lot lately. Trying to expand myself, to fight the limits my mind, moods and energy put on me. I always know when I can find that perfect source of inspiration or that "one" great idea, I can trust my moods to change, an uplift in my energy and a happy spot of well being. I often wonder if all creative people have this roller coaster of a ride sometimes. I feel almost not whole when I am not creating something. Whether it be on a scrapbook page, dimensional art, or typing words onto a screen. I am thankful to God that he has given me the ability to express myself, given me an outlet to show my imagination. Remember, when you may be feeling down or you can't seem to find that one thing that makes you happy. Create it for yourself. Use your imagination, your own inspiration and magnificent mind to uplift yourself. Lose yourself in a piece of art.

Ok so enough of my disordered ramblings :) I am so excited I get to throw my first bridal shower this weekend. My best friend and life long friend Tracie is getting married. I have been working on stuff for weeks. Her colors are red black and white. and I am having so much fun. I will show you pics this weekend of how it all turns out. Here though is the invites I created. I blurred a few details out but you get the gist of it. I am also making matching thank you cards for her too.

I have been working on some scrappy stuff as well of course but can't show you quite yet. I am also working on a couple tutorials as well. Like I said above I've been deeply trying to tap into my imagination and creativity LOL I have first day of school pics but they are on my phone :P What kind of mom am I to forget my Nikon?!? Thank Goodness I have an awesome cellphone/camera. LOL

that you are able to commit for the entire year.

As a Tattered Angels design team member you will receive:

* Tattered Angels product supplied throughout the year including new
products that are coming.
* Receive product periodically from our education partners and for blog
hops, challenges, etc.
* Your name, bio and headshot will be featured on the Tattered Angels blog.
* Exposure on the Tattered Angels blog and other media.
* Possible teaching, publication and manufacturing opportunities

House That Love Built

It's only Tuesday? Wow this week is going to drag on isn't it LOL. Well I wanted to show you a little project I made for Prima/CHA. Prima has these great new background stamps and I used one of them to design a fun little house and mini album. They also have plain white flowers to go with these stamps so you can color and create your own designs.

I found this little house at Michaels. I used Prima's Paisley Road PP Line to cover the house. I stamped the PP with the above stamp to ad a little extra touch to it. I used copper wire to create the hearts in the chimney. And used scrap pieces to create the mini album. It would make a great house warming gift :)
