It's St. Patty's Day this weekend. And I thought what better way to show a little bit of Irish spirit than create a little something crafty. I created this layout using different Canvas Corp, 7 Gypsies, and Tattered Angels products. Little Q looks so cute playing with his lucky toy. Well it use to, he since has grown out of it a bit, but none the less the pic is one of my faves. I used Canvas Corps Clover paper along with their printed Kraft paper to build the page. I used the round tags to help add layers. I also used some of Canvas Corps. Textured paper as well. I love!!! the dimensional papers.
I used Tim Holtz distress stain in Peeled Paint along with Tattered Angels Chalkboard mist in inchworm to alter the background. The white print on the Kraft paper creates a nice resist. To add little touches of detail I added some of 7Gypsies antique Brass corners and swirled hangers to break up the page a bit.
I hope you have a fun and safe St. Patty's Day Weekend!!

"Autumn" Mixed Media Painting
Hi everyone. I started a Mixed Media series and here is the first of four canvases I'm working on. Her name is Autumn, she represents one of the four seasons. Can you guess which one ;)
Here is the brand that I use. I find that it holds its shape when it bakes and it is easy to mold but not too soft. You can find it at Dick Blick Art Materials or Michaels Crafts.
On the next canvas I will try and tape some of the techniques I use to create it. I hope you all have had a great February and have an even better March.

Here is a 12"x24" Mixed media canvas I worked on yesterday. I first started with the girl. I used Prismacolor Watercolor pencils on a rawCanvas Corp canvas, I then blocked her out with Golden Artist Colors black gesso. I traced out her hair and combined Golden's Molding paste and Fluid acrylic paint and used a palette knife to form out her hair. I went back through with a paint brush to add definition and smooth out the paste. I added Canvas Corp's red jute cord and burlap banner tags to her hair. I thn layered Prima Marketing Flowers and7gypsies wire swirls. I created the little bird out of polymer clay. I then used Ranger Ink / Tim Holtz Adirondack color wash in Red Pepper over the top of her hair piece, hair and highlighted her skin. To add a finishing glow to her I used PanPastel Colors to highlight the canvas and her face.
I love the weight of Canvas Corp.'s canvases. They are all raw and have a nice give to them. They take art mediums really well and can be used for anything from decoupage, scrapbooking, to fine arts.
I also used one of the new felt flowers I designed for Prima this CHA. It blends so well with the rest of the embellishments.
She took me quite a bit of time but she was worth every minute of it. I have her listed on Etsy currently.
I created this little bird out of Polymer Clay and painted him with Golden Fluid acrylics. When I do clay pieces I use the buff colored clay. I find that it paints easier than a white or colored clay.
On the next canvas I will try and tape some of the techniques I use to create it. I hope you all have had a great February and have an even better March.
Hugs

Live With Prima Mini Album Class!!
Happy Friday everyone. It's a three day weekend and I'm hoping part of this weekend will consist of paint, canvas, and a glorious mess . Last night I had a Live With Prima class and I thought I'd share with ya. Help get those creative juices flowing. This is pretty structured for me and i apologize if the measurements are a little jumbled in the video. I hate measuring :P But here are the accurate measurements you will need if you would like to follow along with the video :D
Here are the measurements for last night's show:
2 pieces of white card stock, watercolor paper, or chipboard at 12"x6", 4 pieces of patterned paper at 12"x6"
Fold lines: On one piece of white crd stock fold at 1" in and again at 4" from the edge. That will give you 3" between the two score lines. On your other piece fold at 3" in and then at 4" in. this will give you a 1" between the two folds. Fold the pieces and then adhere the patterned paper on top of the crd stock.
On the binding of the inside. Accordion fold at a 1/2" you will want at least seven folds. You can add more if you like.
