I worked on a watercolor piece today and played with some different techniques. I wanted to share with you a few start to finish photos.

Start of watercolor pencils....
I painted her face with watercolor pencils. Watercolor pencils are a great art tool to use. If you are a beginner or advanced artist they are a fun material to play with. You can use them on cards, to layouts, or fine arts to mixed media.
I used a medium I had sitting around for quite awhile. I finally grew the courage to give it a try. Masking fluid is a medium you can find in the art department of your local arts and crafts store. I used it by covering my face and flower area before I painted her hair. This keeps parts of my painting protected. I had wet on dried painted her face and then did wet on wet for her hair.
A fun technique with watercolors is to use salt with them. Sprinkle salt over wet watercolors, once the paint has dried brush off the excess salt. It creates this great webbed effect. :)
Finished painting :)
